FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE APPOINTMENT?

Please clear the bathroom floor of any loose items (rug, litter box, etc), sweep the floor, and have a trash receptacle handy.  Please also have 1 or 2 clean bath sized towels ready to go.

WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THE APPOINTMENT?

We need you! Please expect to join us in the grooming experience in the bathroom with us. Your presence provides vital emotional support for your cat. We are understanding if you are caring for small children, working from home, or are physically unable to join us in the bathroom.

If you are unable to be there, we do require an adult to be present in your home. Please make arrangements as necessary. Thank you!

DOES MY CAT NEED A BATH?

Most cats are happiest and healthiest without baths. Cleaning agents will disrupt the natural oils in cats' skin and can cause skin problems. That said, we do pay close attention to the needs of elderly or disabled cats and there may be times when baths are helpful, including when cats have accidents with soot or oil and are physically dirty. 

HOW DO I CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?

Life happens! Please call or text our booking line at (206) 683-1100. Rose or Whitney will get back to you to reschedule.

 

Less than 24 hours' notice? Canceling may result in a fee equivalent to 50% of the scheduled service amount. We will charge the full fee for the Nail Trim only. The same applies if you are not at home when we arrive.

CAN I ASK FOR SERVICES A LA CARTE?

The only a la carte service we provide is a nail trim. Check out our service packages, here!

HOW SHOULD I PAY?

We accept debit cards, credit cards (including AMEX), checks payable to Better Kitty, and cash.

Please note: we do not carry change for cash payments.

DO YOU PROVIDE MEDICAL SERVICES?

Medical services are outside the scope of what Better Kitty offers, however, we may be able to teach you better methods to assist your cat with medical needs. We are happy to share tips and tricks for easier medication administration, etc. Just ask before or during your appointment.
 

If you are interested in in-home help with SQ fluid administration, injections, medication administration, or other specialized medical needs you can contact Whitney here via Better Kitty and she will direct you to her personal number. 

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CAT OR HOUSE HAS FLEAS?

If you do not inform Better Kitty prior to your appointment that there are fleas in your home or on your pet(s), you will be charged a $200 Flea Fee because we will be forced to cancel all other appointments that day. We will have to follow a strict regimen to clean ourselves and our equipment; we cannot risk exposing our other clients or our own pets to fleas.

 

If You Have a Flea Problem: While we are happy to apply monthly flea treatment at no additional charge, we do NOT provide flea treatments for purchase.

DO YOU RECOMMEND ANY RESOURCES? 

DO YOU ADMINISTER SOFT PAWS?

There are many ways to manage your kitty’s inappropriate clawing behavior. For some clients, Soft Paws are a useful tool. We will occasionally apply Soft Paws, but only as a tool in a long-term behavior plan. Please ask about our Custom Behavior Care services. 
 

Better Kitty does not provide Soft Paws for clients. If administered, clients must purchase their own supplies for this service. We ask that you purchase name brand “Soft Paws” or “Soft Claws” and that you choose a color other than clear (this way you can actually see when they come off).
